The Vic/Tas Division are focused on the following three key areas and we would love your help:

Membership Growth and Engagement

As a volunteer led organisation, we are only ever as strong as those who step up to volunteer.

We remain focused on growing our member base, and engaging our members so as to grow the number of Australian Democrats working to connect community members, to listen carefully to what matters most within communities, and to work collaboratively across all parts of the community to find solutions and paths forward together.

You can help us with this goal by becoming a member of the Australian Democrats and volunteering to help us in any way that works for you.

We all bring different capabilities, and different levels of capacity, but as a community of volunteers we support one another and we have a common set of values and goals. Importantly, in line with one of our values, we promise to look for common ground, even when there are differences, in order to achieve a better Australia for ALL Australians and to contribute to a better world.

Awareness of Australian Democrats

We continue to work on brand awareness, and visibility and trust in our brand as an evidence-informed advocate for better and more sustainable outcomes.

We promise to act with respect, fairness, empathy, and compassion; supporting one another in tough times, striving to ensure no one is left behind; and respecting and preserving the planet for future generations.
You can help us spread the word by liking and following us on all the major social media channels, and sharing with friends and families.

Funding to enable effective campaigning

We are focused on fundraising to enable us to forward plan with confidence, and to be financially sustainable as an organisation.

Our fundraising dollars enable us to contest elections on behalf of our members and communities.

Message from Leonie Green

Victoria-Tas Division President

Hi, I’m Leonie Green, the President of the Vic/Tas Division of the Australian Democrats and a former Senate candidate for Victoria in the 2022 federal election. I’ve spent much of my career working in law, leadership, and workplace relations, which has given me a strong belief in fairness, accountability, and the power of collaboration to bring about meaningful change.

I have learned throughout my career that listening, learning, and working together are the keys to solving complex challenges, whether in workplaces or in politics.

What I love most about the Democrats is how we welcome diverse perspectives and focus on practical solutions that make a real difference to people’s lives.

If you’re thinking about joining the Democrats, I’d encourage you to give it a go. It’s a chance to connect with others who care about creating a fairer, more sustainable future, and to get involved in ways that work for you—whether that’s sharing ideas, supporting campaigns, or simply being part of a community that shares your values.

I’d love to see you join us in shaping a better future.

Warm regards,
Leonie
