Accountability

Openness, accountability, truth and the public’s right to know are essential principles and protections in a democracy.

Accountability has been central to our work in Federal Parliament for over 40 years. Our many successes, such as curbing secrecy in government contracts and initiating the first ever review of parliamentary entitlements delivered lasting improvements in government transparency.

Since not holding balance of power in the Parliament, lies and misinformation became the norm, spending by private interests on election campaigns has increased, peaceful protest is being criminalised, and journalists and whistleblowers are being charged for exposing government wrongdoing.

We must get back into government to keep the bastards honest.
